Operation of a tuning module

Electrically assisted bicycles are originally restricted to 25 km/h. This means that as soon as you pedal beyond 25 km/h, the engine stops running.

Once installed, you will be able to drive with the help of your engine beyond the 25 km/h speed limit. There are internal kits (which connect directly to your engine) and external kits (which attach to the frame). Each motor works differently, so it is important to choose the right release kit for the electrical installation of your ebike.

FAQ

Is my engine still under warranty?

The presence of a kit automatically voids the warranty you have on your engine. If you remove the kit, your rider may be able to identify that you have unbridled your engine.

What is the impact on the autonomy of my ebike?

The autonomy of your electric bicycle depends on your behaviour, whether you have a kit or not. For example, if you regularly pedal at 35 km/h, you will use your battery less than someone who selects a “Sport” mode and pedals little. It also depends on the terrain, the wind and the maintenance of your battery. A regularly charged battery is a battery that lasts longer.

What is the maximum speed once unbridled?

The unlocking kits will partially or fully unlock your engine. Each manufacturer has its own characteristics. Once boosted you can drive at least up to 45 km/h with assistance. Some kits remove the original limit, allowing you to be assisted as long as you pedal.

How do I know if my Bosch kit is compatible?

You will find all the necessary information on the product sheets of the different kits. If you have any doubt, do not hesitate to contact me by communicating the model of your bike.

Is the installation of the kit easy?

That depends. If you’re a do-it-yourselfer, it’s fairly simple and quick. External kits are easier to install but do not display your actual speed. If you wish to purchase an internal kit that connects directly to your engine, you will need a crank extractor.

Can I return my bike to its original condition?

All kits can be removed as they are installed. The operation is therefore completely reversible. Once removed, your electric bicycle returns to its original operation, i.e. a speed with assistance limited to 25 km/h.

Will the Bosch kit damage my engine?

Driving over 25 km/h does not mean that you will damage your engine. The kit allows your engine to deliver the power it is capable of at any speed. You won’t get overheated. All the more so as we design high-performance and highly resistant motors and batteries.

should I insure my bike?

The electric bike tuning turns your electric bike into a moped in terms of road regulations. If you are driving on a private road, there is no need to take out insurance. If you use public roads, you must comply with the regulations in force. In France, it is a question of riding, insured, registered and with a helmet. Otherwise you risk a fine.
